7 Quick Tips for Better Search Ranking

February 1, 2018

Your website design has a lot to do with the page you end up on in an online search. Since increasing site traffic means making it to page one, it is important for everything about your site to work in harmony. Here are 7 fast tips to improve your site’s SEO.

Keep the Same Domain Name

Most search engines will weigh how old your domain name is as part of how authoritative the site is, so don’t think you can change your URL and immediately rank as well as you did previously.

Index Your Site

This should happen automatically, right? Should is the operative word. Don’t take anything for granted and add your site directly to all the search engines you want to rank on.

Image Alt Text

Make sure your keywords appear in the alt text of your images. This is how search engines know what the picture is about. Otherwise, you can have the perfect image for your content, but Google will never know.

Internal Links

Every page on your site should link to at least one of your other pages. This includes blog posts, so make sure every time you add a new blog post it links to your contact page, the about page, a services page, or another page on your site.

Fast Websites Rank Higher

The amount of time that it takes your website to load will ultimately have an effect on ranking. Leave out unnecessary bells and whistles that slow load times and don’t really add to the user’s experience.

Get the Metadata Right

Your page title, description, and metatags need to include the keywords that you are trying to rank for. Even if you put the keyword in all the right pages of the content, it won’t mean anything if the metadata is off. This is how a search engine knows to check your page’s content.

Frequent Updates

Whether you are adding more pages to the site or updating a blog, the more frequently and consistently you update your site, the better it will perform. This makes having fresh new content on a regular basis and a scalable site important parts of your web design.

Besides these SEO tips, there are other considerations to keep in mind. The above 7 tips, however, are quick ways to boost ranking. Combine the above knowledge with high-quality content, and you are on the road to success.
